Tenth student voice from my focus group (SUCCESS) after the CT.

The student voice collected from the questions showed the following:

The SUCCESS had set realistic low Achieved goals and were disappointed that they were not able to get these grades. The strategies used were past papers, revising notes and attending lunchtime tutorials.
However, these strategies did not help especially since the offer of lunchtime attendance was not considered seriously and the students seemed not to keen to do the past papers well. There seemed to be an attitude of its only a "common test" hence no effort was seen.

The same realistic target was reset and this time parents/guardians were duly informed and the Monday & Wednesday lunchtime tutorials were made compulsory. The parents/guardians want to be informed if there is no  attendance to these tutorials asap. The whanau support is great and it seems to leave the student with no choice but are seen to force an improvement on themselves.

After a week of two lunchtime tutorials in which literacy skills were taught especially keywords on each external, a past paper was given to each SUCCESS student.
The  year 13 students all achieved but none out of the four year 12 students showed progress of learning.

The Year 13 students seemed to get an intrinsic boost and were ready for more improvement.
The year 12 students need more work - incorporating more literacy skills so they recognize the achieved (surface) level questions and are able to recall the answers is the forthcoming plan during lunchtime tutorials.  The entire teaching for the year is done so in class revision will be ongoing.
