Fifth Student voice using an e-learning strategy taught in Term 2- 24/6/2016

The 10SCX class was asked a question using Google classroom in regards to how the teaching of the carbon cycle could be improved.

The e-learning strategy is identified as using the Google Classroom question page.

The responses are direct student voice and will be used to plan & teach the standard for future cohorts.
How can the teaching of the Carbon Cycle be Improved?
Please answer only ONCE to help me teach the carbon cycle with your ideas for the next lot of students. Thank you in advance for your answers.

The 3% that had high M have not commented at all so I approached them personally and asked for feedback and as usual - everything was ok.
There was a 97% E pass rate in the class and the comments can be seen below.
Reteaching it next year, I will plan to explain how the context ties in with the carbon cycle more thoroughly, show more exemplars, allow more time for practice posters and use more visual aids when teaching.

I think that we should've explained more clearly how to relate the carbon cycle to the context

More examples of excellence answers in class so we can see what is expected.

We can go more gradually through each section and be given a better understanding of what gets an achieved, a merit, and an excellence and maybe do more practice on the processes that we don't understand.

I feel like the carbon cycle was pretty well taught, the only thing I wasn't exactly sure about was guidelines on how the poster should be laid out. The research and background to the project were handled pretty well, in my opinion.

Present/teach Information/knowledge about the Carbon Cycle more visually by having less work/questions requiring a written answer since this in the end is a poster which is a visual piece.

Fourth Student voice for inquiry - 20/6/2016

The Year 13 Physics class was told to use the Google Classroom to list any difficult homework questions so we could address them in class.
This was seen to be more successful since students often do not want to come to the board to fulfil the same request.
After answering the questions and seeing the same concept was deemed confusing - I retaught the and hopefully addressed the misconception.
I just asked the student on how did they find using the Google classroom as a platform and had to show either a thumbs up/down and 80% had a liking to it.

The class are doing a formative after each topic in each standard as well and they plus their parents liked that approach so far.

Examples of the Google classroom can be seen below:

Hi all
Thank you very much for the feedback on the questions that you found difficult. I have done them so will go through in class. Overall the missing information was that we had not covered POWER. This concept is covered in slide 17 of the DC PPT that was downloaded on Thursday last week. Please have a look at the PPT and also read pg:215 & 217 of Textbook. Once you have done this, attempt the questions that you found difficult again especially 147 2c, 150 3a, 149 5c or any questions that has brightest and dimmest words in it. I will go through in class as well.

Need clarification of the concept- 'why'

Hi Ms a group of us are finding the set task very difficult! Most of the content does not make sense with our current knowledge. Is it ok if we cannot complete all of the nine pages you have set?? And could you possibly take us through the questions on Monday?
